After watching my peers present, I realized that many of us went through the same composition process and faced similar constraints. We all sought after accommodating the exigencies that our “clients” described to us and from this stemmed all the choices we made regarding audience, genre, material and network. Many of the other teams made use of several digital platforms like facebook or twitter as a site to exhibit their text. This is one of the many decisions made by other groups that I appreciated and would have done myself. These social sites provide useful data analytics tools that give more insight than many of my platforms could have. When fulfilling genre conventions, most groups differed mostly in formality vs informality. Martha’s group who created a campaign for a law office was formal throughout using a darker color palette, a tone in her content that was professional, and even dressing for their presentation in the appropriate business close. The group that was campaigning for skate world however had a more lax presentation. Their colors were bright and the texts that they used were targeted to a younger audience. This goes to show how genre encompasses all features of a text and changes dramatically when one feature like tone varies. As far as constraints go, it seemed time was a common theme with each group. As much as we would have liked to create mass awareness for our organizations we are neither a professional advertising agency with the funds to do so nor were we allowed the time to create a truly successful campaign. However, with what we did have I honestly felt everyone did a really great job. If I were to redo this project, I would have better strategized what texts would be most conclusive. I really enjoyed doing this project but it didn’t have a satisfying end to it where I could see the results of my efforts. I feel that if I would have focused our campaigning onto a singular event, we could have tracked attendance or money raised. We took on a piece too big to swallow but I’d still like to think our campaigning made an inkling of a difference.
